Halloween is SO much fun! And it’s right around the corner. These Spider Chocolate Chip Cookies are a perfect and fun treat to make for the fam to munch on while passing out treats on Halloween night.
I loved Halloween as a child. But then I guess all children do!
I was either freezing cold or burning up.
No, I’m not talking about menopause. I’m talking about Halloween in central Texas. It seems it’s either 90 something degrees and the trick or treaters are sweating bullets, or one of the first cold fronts of the year is blowing in and everyone is freezing to death in their costumes.
Ok, great childhood Halloween memory. The majority of the Halloweens I remember as the weather being HOT. Yet my father always followed, waiting patiently at the sidewalk’s edge, flashlight in hand, as my sister and I ran from house to house.
One year we walked up to one of our usual houses. Now, being children we were focused on CANDY. We didn’t pay any attention as to what was going on in the houses.
We rang the doorbell, waited, no answer yet we could hear a lot of people inside. So determined we rang the bell again. Apparently the “candy hander outer” was a bit tipsy and began throwing handfuls of smarties over our heads and down his sidewalk. Needless to say, we went running madly to pick up all the smarties. I’m sure we looked as if you just threw a bunch of treats out to your dog. Anywho, my Dad wasn’t as pleased and told us to come on and get away. Oh fun times!
But back to baking and great cookies. These are a yummy and healthy alternative to the fat butter filled cookies. Plus think how fun they will be to make with the kids!
